CARING FOR YOUR OIL & COLD WAX MEDIUM ARTWORK

Congratulations on acquiring an OIL & COLD WAX MEDIUM painting by Chris
Henry. To ensure the longevity and beauty of your investment, here are some
guidelines on how to care for it properly:

• Handle with Care: Like all fine art, these paintings should be handled with
care. Each piece is meticulously crafted from layers of oil and cold wax
medium, with the final layer consisting of cold wax medium.

• Environmental Considerations: Avoid exposing the artwork to extremes
of heat, cold, and dampness. While the painting can withstand normal
temperatures in a climate-controlled setting, refrain from leaving it in a hot
car for an extended period.

• Curing Process: Cold wax is an archival medium that continues to cure
over time. Fresh paintings have a more delicate surface, so exercise
caution to prevent scratching with sharp objects.

• Cleaning and Maintenance: Periodically clean and "polish" the surface
using a soft, clean cloth. Gently buff the painting to remove any dust and
enhance its sheen.

• Product Information: I use artist oil paint mixed with cold wax medium.
For the cold wax I use two different brands for my paintings - Jacquard's
Dorland’s Wax Medium and Gamblin Cold Wax Medium. Feel free to
research their unique properties to gain a deeper understanding.

• Surface Characteristics: Cold wax paintings exhibit a hard surface when
dry, devoid of the softness found in encaustic (hot wax) paintings. While
they are not especially fragile or sensitive to heat once dry, exercise
caution with the edges and corners, as they can be somewhat brittle.

• Melting Point: The wax used in Cold Wax Medium has a melting point of
approximately 155 degrees Fahrenheit. In most environments, Cold Wax
paintings remain stable, but it is advisable to avoid exposing them to
extreme conditions or direct sunlight.

Thank you for choosing my artwork, and I hope you derive joy from your
new acquisition for many years to come. If you have any further questions
or concerns, feel free to reach out to me.
